CHOICE & CONTROL

Choice and Control

There is an increasing awareness in Australia and around the world of the benefits of people with disability and their families having more control over their lives and opportunities to pursue their dreams.

This emerging trend of being able to exercise more choice and control is sometimes referred to as an “individualised”, “self managed” or “self directed” approach. All of these different terms incorporate the same key concept that the person with disability and their family has control over the what, when, where and by whom of support.
